There is barely any doubt about the quality of players that currently represent Barcelona. Both the players from La Masia and from outside have come together to form a formidable team. As shown by their perfect streak so far in La Liga, Hansi Flick’s Barcelona means business.
Even in their latest performance against Girona, Barcelona were relentless throughout the game. A more than convincing 4-1 victory away from home at the Montilivi confirms the trajectory that this new-look team is currently on and a lot more positive things can be expected from them in the future.
However, such performances and results would not be possible had it not been for key individual performances so far this season as well. The likes of Lamine Yamal are already unstoppable, but other players also deserve the praise that comes their way.
One of those players is undoubtedly Pedri, Barça’s 21-year-old Golden Boy winner who continues to showcase exactly how dangerous and impactful he can be when he is fully fit and enjoying his football. However, it is not just the eye test that proves or backs that statement up either.
As highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, the 21-year-old Barcelona star was quite impressive in the 70 minutes that he played against Girona before being substituted. During the game, the young Spaniard had a total of 48 touches and he looked to make every single one of them count.
Attempting a total of 33 passes, 30 of those reached their desired target. Moreover, out of the nine passes he attempted in the final third, seven were on target as well, showcasing a clear and direct approach from the youngster that enabled Barcelona to progress the ball into dangerous territory.
Beyond just the passes and creativity, the €80 million-rated midfielder also constantly arrived into dangerous positions and never once neglected his defensive duties. Winning two out of the three duels he attempted, he also made three recoveries and completed one clearance.
In terms of duels, Pedri won five out of the eight duels that he contested. Even beyond that, however, the young Barcelona star scored a brilliant goal that was the product of a sensational play between several players in Hansi Flick’s team and it concluded with a goal that just oozed technical brilliance.
Ultimately, Pedri is now showcasing a great new version of himself that is daring and not afraid to take risks. Without injuries holding him back this time, the Barcelona star is thriving once again and all that he needs now is to stay healthy and he will continue to mark his brilliance with performances like his most recent one.
