In recent months, Jorge Mendes has been one of the most regularly featured individuals related to FC Barcelona in the news. The Portuguese agent represents a number of Blaugrana players and also handles some of the players that the Catalans have been targeting in the market.
The super-agent is again in the news involving FC Barcelona, as SPORT claims that he plans to bring the Portuguese star, Joao Felix, to the Catalan club. The report mentions that the agent has offered Barcelona the chance to sign him on loan and is working on an operation that will end up satisfying all the involved parties.
While FC Barcelona are interested in the player, they currently cannot afford a loan fee, which is one of the demands of Atletico Madrid. Felix is unsettled at Atletico, and as Diego Simeone does not like the player, he has asked the club hierarchy to offload him.
The player was sent on loan in the second half of last year to Chelsea, but Felix could not perform to his expected levels there too. He has some offers from mid-table Premier League clubs, but Barcelona is the only suitable option for all parties involved.
However, Atletico want a loan fee for the player to help them amortize his costs. Chelsea paid €10 million for a half-season loan of the player, and Atletico expect Barcelona to spend double this amount for a full-season loan. However, that would not be possible for Barcelona.
Meanwhile, Felix himself is ready to come to Barcelona and will block any other offers if the Catalan club makes a clear move for him. Xavi also likes the player and wants a player of his profile in the squad, but there is disagreement within the Catalan club about the player’s ability to play at the highest level.
