FC Barcelona are having a great start to the 2024-25 season under their new coach, Hansi Flick. The Catalans have won the first four matches in La Liga, with their last match against Real Valladolid being one of those goal fests that boost the morale of both the team and the fans.
However, one area that might worry the club is that of physical preparation, as there are several important players already out with different injuries at this initial stage of the season. Players like Gavi, Ronald Araujo, Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, Andreas Christensen, and Ansu Fati are all currently out with injuries.
The latest player to be added to this list of injured players was the youngster Marc Bernal, who tore his ACL in the match against Rayo Vallecano and is thus ruled out for the rest of the season.
As his ACL tear, which also impacted his meniscus, was diagnosed, it was clear that he would have to undergo surgery to recover from this issue.
Mundo Deportivo has now provided an update on when this surgery will take place, and claims that this surgery will be conducted once the swelling in the impacted area has gone down. For now, the medical intervention is scheduled for 4th September, Wednesday.
Dr. Joan Carles Monllau will undertake this medical procedure on the youngster, while Dr. Ricard Pruna will direct the supervision of the Barcelona medical services during this intervention.
Dr Monllau is one of the more trusted names among Barcelona players, as he has already undertaken similar surgeries on Gavi, Alexia Putellas, Phillipe Coutinho, Martin Braithwaite, Sergio Lozano, and Alex Arbines.
Thus, Barcelona fans can rest assured that Bernal is in good hands for now, but will still have their fingers crossed for a perfect and speedy recovery of the young midfielder from such a serious injury.
