FC Barcelona are going to set sail for their USA tour today, and the list of players who will be going for this pre-season tour has been finalized. This list includes a few surprising names, but the most surprising of these names is that of Alex Valle.
According to SPORT, Valle has spent the second half of his last season on loan at the second-division side Andorra. The player has returned to Barcelona this summer but was not expecting to get a call-up for the tour to the USA.
However, Xavi has summoned Valle, along with several other players from the youth team. These include Marc Casado, Aleix Garrido, Lamine Yamal, Astralaga, and Mikail Faye. These players will be with the Barcelona squad to travel throughout the States and may also get a chance to showcase their skills against top European clubs.
Valle is a left-back and was an integral component of Rafa Marquez’s team during the first half of the last season. However, he was loaned to Andorra, where he had a slow start but ultimately started getting good minutes and had a good experience overall. He played seven games in total with Andorra.
One of the factors that could have induced Xavi to take Valle with him for the USA tour is the injury that Alejandro Balde suffered at the end of last season.
Balde is still recovering from this injury, and the club has already uploaded videos of him playing with the ball, but he may not entirely be ready to play during this tour. As a result, Valle might get a chance to appear as the team’s left-back along with Marcos Alonso.
