As the 2023-24 season has ended, most FC Barcelona players have already said their goodbyes to the Catalan club as they leave for their vacations or join their respective international teams. Several of these players will participate in the two big events this summer, i.e., UEFA EURO 2024 and the 2024 Copa America.

One of these players who will be playing in the former tournament is the striker Robert Lewandowski, who is already training with his Poland international team for the European championship.

Despite being 35 years of age, the Polish striker is still fit enough to keep playing at the highest level for some years to come.

These were the feelings of the player himself as he talked to Mundo Deportivo recently, and ensured that he was not thinking about retirement at the moment even though Toni Kroos, who is a year younger than him, is going to hang his boots this summer:

“Physically, I feel very good, and that means I can’t think about retirement… Maybe Kroos felt that moment, but that’s not the case for me.”

Further commenting on this aspect, the striker shared that he would retire only when he feels it to be the absolute right time to call it a day. Right now, he was not getting such a feeling:

“My heart will tell me when that moment comes. Before making a decision, I first need to feel something… I don’t know when it will happen; it is difficult to determine it myself. I need to feel my decision to be sure of it, and right now I don’t have that feeling.”

The Barcelona striker was also quite excited about the upcoming tournament, especially because of his previous association with the country where the competition is going to be held:

“I spent many years in Germany, and that’s why it’s a sentimental tournament; a part of me belongs to this country. There are many memories. We have a great European Championship ahead of us.”

The UEFA EURO 2024 kicks off on June 15 with a match between Germany and Scotland. Lewandowski will make his first appearance in the tournament on June 16 when Poland faces Ukraine. Hopefully, the striker will be able to lead his team deep into the tournament, which is highly likely to be his last as a player.
