FC Barcelona have a tricky match coming up in La Liga as Hansi Flick will lead his team to face Osasuna at El Sadar. The Pamplona team currently stands 7th in the league, a full 10 points behind the league leaders Barcelona, but can still put up a significant challenge for the Blaugranes.
As Mundo Deportivo has noted, Flick and his team will have two significant challenges to surmount in this game set to be played at at El Sadar, and a win in this game will promise them a lot of glory.
Firstly, having won in all seven La Liga matches up to now, Hansi Flick has already matched the record set by Ernesto Valverde of having the second-best start to a league season.
Now, the German coach will be looking to match the record of Tata Martino, who got eight wins in the first eight league matches back in the 2013-14 season. Interestingly, Tata Martino’s winning start to the season was interrupted by a game at El Sadar, which is also going to be the venue of the upcoming game between Barcelona and Osasuna.
Secondly, Flick will also be facing the challenge of winning at a stadium where no other team has been able to get a win this season so far.
In their four home games up to now, Osasuna have lost none, won three, and drawn another. Their three wins have come against sides as good as Mallorca, Celta Vigo, and Las Palmas, while their only draw came against Leganes in their first match of this league season.
If only home results were taken into account, Vicente Moreno’s team would stand second in the league, only two points behind Real Madrid, and one point ahead of Barcelona. But the Blaugranes have played one less game at home than these two other sides.
Thus, getting a win against Osasuna at El Sadar will write Flick’s name in the history books of FC Barcelona. However, winning at this stadium will not be easy, as other strong teams, such as Mallorca and Las Palmas, have already discovered to their detriment.
