In the last few years, FC Barcelona have tasted considerable success when pursuing free agents. The Catalans have incorporated several high-quality players for free in their team over the last few years, with the likes of Andreas Christensen, Franck Kessie, and Ilkay Gundogan standing out the most.

The Blaugranes did not incorporate any free-agent in their team in the last summer transfer window, but they can return to this route in the summer transfer window of 2025, as they have been linked with several players whose contracts are ending at the end of this season, including Jonathan Tah, Jonathan David, and Reinildo Mandava, etc.

Another very exciting player whose contract is ending in 2025 and who has been linked with Barcelona in the past is the Bayern Munich fullback, Alphonso Davies. He has not shown any particular interest in renewing his contract with the Bavarian giants, and has left his future open to speculation in almost all of his recent public appearances.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Davies can be a surprise signing for Barcelona next summer, as the Catalans are interested in his signature.

The Canadian fullback has been linked very strongly with the arch-rivals of Barcelona, Real Madrid, in the last few months. The Merengues have reportedly been working on this operation for quite some time now, as they look to bolster the attacking capabilities of their left flank.

However, one factor that can provide Barcelona with an advantage in this operation is the presence of Hansi Flick on their bench. The German coach was the one who gave Davies his debut with Bayern Munich in the 2019-20 season, in which the duo ended up winning a treble.

For now, Barcelona believe Davies’ addition will be a considerable improvement on their left flank, and with the Hansi Flick card in their deck, they are not giving up on his pursuit.
