Peculiar things often happen at FC Barcelona, and it is simply in the nature of the club. For instance, the first team head coach, Xavi Hernandez, remains one of La Liga’s most polarizing figures. Due to his rather abrupt outbursts at times, it is not uncommon to see the Barcelona coach be sanctioned occasionally.
In fact, he is among the most sanctioned coaches in the history of Barcelona already. Through his own words, the Blaugrana head coach continues to live the game just as he did when he was a player with a never-ending supply of passion. However, this passion sometimes ends up costing Barcelona, but they fortunately have a reliable alternative.
Oscar Hernandez, the brother of Xavi Hernández, is the trusted second-in-command. He has already taken over the team’s reins on seven occasions this season whenever his brother has been unavailable due to whatever reasons. Moreover, his record when in command is statistically flawless.
As highlighted by SPORT, Oscar Hernandez remains undefeated and has won all of his games in charge of the first team. Known as Oscar ‘Klopp’ Hernandez in the dressing room due to his resemblance to Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp, his record as the primary Barcelona coach is seven victories out of seven games.
The first taste of victory he got was during the pre-season tour of the United States of America. Due to some bureaucratic issue, Xavi could not make it in time to lead Barcelona against Inter Miami. However, his brother was there to take care of the team and Barcelona emerged as 6-0 victors from the game in the United States.
Subsequently, he has coached Barcelona in six La Liga outings as well. Five of those games have ended in clean sheets, while all six of them have ended in victory for the Catalan club. The first of those came against Valencia away from home, a game that ended in a 0-1 victory for Barcelona.
Then came victories over Cadiz (2-0), Villarreal (3-4), Mallorca (1-0), Las Palmas (1-0), and most recently, the 0-1 victory against Cadiz at the Nuevo Mirandilla. The ‘Jurgen Klopp’ of Barcelona remains invincible and has been a great replacement for Xavi Hernandez in times of desperation.
However, this should still not take away from the contributions of Xavi himself. While Oscar may be taking the reins in place of the Barcelona coach on the sidelines, the head coach himself remains involved in every single tactical decision both before the game as well as during it through communication with Oscar Hernandez at all times.
