With the way the team has been performing, there does not seem to be any particular need to reinforce the FC Barcelona squad in the upcoming winter transfer window.
However, the Catalan club will still have a lot of work on their hands in January, especially as they have to deal with the registration of several players with La Liga.
The two players signed in the last summer transfer window, Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, will have to be registered with La Liga once again in the winter, as they were previously registered only because of Andreas Christensen’s injury. The Dane is also working to return to the pitch in the coming weeks, and the club has promised all three players that they will be registered in January.
However, according to SPORT, the technical secretariat at Barcelona is now concerned about the situation of these players as the funds that they expecting to get out of their FFP problems have still not arrived.
There were two sources of income that the Catalans were counting upon to solve their FFP problems. Firstly, Barcelona were expecting a reach new deal with Nike before the end of this year, but now it looks like they will have to wait till January before reaching an agreement with the sportswear company.
Similarly, the Catalans were also expecting to clear up the mess that was caused due to the non-payment of €60 million by Libero Group. However, Barcelona are now pessimistic about their chances of being able to solve this problem in the near future.
Thus, the club’s financial situation can cause them to go back on their word that they have given to both Olmo and Christensen. As things stand, Barcelona can register one of them in January, but not both.
Both these players had shown great confidence in the club when they were promised registrations in January, but now the club is concerned whether these players will remain calm about their situation.
