At the moment, FC Barcelona are working on regaining their best version for the preseason. The Catalan club, led by their new management, understand just how important these few months are. Beyond this summer, Barcelona will not get the chance to strengthen themselves as they can now.

However, this does not just apply to the players currently partaking in the exhaustive training sessions under Hansi Flick. It also applies directly to the Barça stars still in recovery as they hope to be able to regain their best version again and be of use to the Catalan club.

At least, that is the mentality and process that 19-year-old Gavi is currently taking part in. Through excessive training by himself on the grass, the Spanish midfielder is hoping to make a recovery that stays in line with the estimated deadlines that have been set for him.

However, according to SPORT, Barcelona has a new step in mind for him. The club is yet to make a decision about whether or not the player travels with the team to the tour of the United States of America for Barça’s pre-season fixtures against the likes of Manchester City, AC Milan, and Real Madrid.

It is important to note, however, that the player’s incorporation into the squad for the preseason tour will not mean that he takes part in the matches themselves. Instead, the goal is to simply incorporate him into the group settings and environment of the team and their trainings to ease him back into normality.

Thus, in the coming days, three key figures within Barcelona will have a meeting to decide Gavi’s fate. The new head coach, Hansi Flick, will be accompanied by the likes of Julio Tous, the man responsible for physical preparations, and Ricardo Pruna, the head of the medical services at the club.

Alternatively, Barça’s other option is to keep the young midfielder back at home. This would give him more time to speed up his recovery process which has been made specifically for his needs by the specialists at the club. Either way, Barcelona will decide what is best for one of their most talented young superstars in the coming days.
