The last few days have not entirely been great for FC Barcelona. First, the Catalans saw themselves losing their top position in the La Liga table following their defeat to Atletico Madrid in the last match of the year.

More recently, they have faced another significant blow that can have significant implications for them going forward, i.e., the denial of their request to keep Dani Olmo registered under a precautionary order from a commercial court.

There is no doubt that this latest judicial setback is a blow for the Catalan club at large but for Dani Olmo in particular. The Spaniard was enjoying his holidays in the USA when this development took place, and naturally, he returned to Barcelona with the fear of not being able to play from January 1 if his situation is not resolved immediately.

In such a context, Diario AS reports that the Blaugrana club has communicated to the player that they will do everything in their power to ensure his registration, and after their latest setback, they still have three different avenues to achieve it.

One of the avenues is against judicial verdict, as they have already filed a lawsuit in a Court of First Instance, where they have accused La Liga of changing their rules which keep Olmo from being registered along with Wojciech Szczesny in the salary margin freed up by Ter Stegen’s long-term injury.

Building upon this point, Barcelona are arguing that La Liga’s Delegate Commission is not a legitimate agent to decide on registrations.

Another route that the Catalans have available to them is to finalize their agreement with a Qatari company for the sale of a package of VIP seats at Spotify Camp Nou for €120 million. However, La Liga will have to authorise the income obtained from this lever and there are only three days left till Barcelona can register Olmo.

Lastly, another option that Laporta has available is that of a guarantee obtained by a board member. This tool has already been used by the club to register Kounde.

Thus, despite the latest setback, Barcelona have several options available to solve this situation, but time is of the essence as they would have to arrive at a solution before the end of this year.
