FC Barcelona and Real Madrid share one of the most compelling rivalries in the world of sports. This rivalry often manifests itself away from the pitch, as the clubs also take on one another in some political and social issues.
But being two of the biggest clubs in Spain, some of the players of these two clubs also become teammates whenever they are with their national teams, and this is also the case in the current international break, as several Barcelona players share the Spanish national dressing room with some Real Madrid stars.
One of the most important parts of the Spanish dressing room is the veteran fullback, Dani Carvajal, who is also one of the captains at Real Madrid. But as Mundo Deportivo has reported, the Spaniard put his club loyalties aside when talking about the Barcelona youngsters, Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsi, and Gavi, who all also represent the Spanish national team internationally.
The Real Madrid captain congratulated the young defender for his debut with the senior Spain side at only 17 years of age: “I congratulate him on his debut. In training and the few minutes he had, he didn’t look out of place at all. Also, his club is seeing a very high level from him. He’s another candidate to be in the Eurocup.”
The defender then went on to praise other Barcelona youngsters like Yamal and Gavi: “Lamine, Pau, or even Gavi back in the day at 17, are performing at a high level. What the coach says is important; he doesn’t look at age but evaluates them based on their performance.”
Getting the best out of these youngsters is definitely in the favour of Carvajal, as he will be looking to lead his Spain side to a victory in the upcoming EURO 2024. However, this praise from such an important player for their biggest rivals will also provide a mental boost to these players, and hopefully, they can continue to rachet up this praise in the coming weeks as well.
