It is hardly hidden or obscure news that FC Barcelona have always possessed a great plethora of youngsters. The Catalan team is renowned for their talented starlets, and that tradition is quite alive even today. In fact, their most recent showcase of this talent helped Barcelona win against Napoli.
However, it seems that as these young pearls begin to shine on the biggest stage, they attract equally opportunistic eyes. Clubs from around the globe, particularly Europe, seem to have found something in Barcelona worth looking deeper into.
Such is the case of a certain French club, at least. According to SPORT, sources related to Parisian club PSG have revealed that an accredited scout for the French side was present at the game between Barcelona and Napoli in the Montjuic Stadium. However, his presence there could have been due to a number of reasons.
The first, and most obvious, could simply have been to keep an eye on a potential rival. Given the recent victory of Barcelona over Napoli, one that guarantees safe passage to the Champions League quarterfinals, the Catalans could be drawn against PSG this Friday.
To ensure that they have some information on how they play and how good they are, the Parisians would likely want to keep notes.
Another reason, one that could be crucial in the summer, could be to keep an eye on Barça’s aspiring talents. The likes of Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi have shined constantly this season, and the latest game was no exception.
Knowing that Kylian Mbappe would be leaving in the summer, PSG have the financial means to pursue signings on a grand scale. Even Frenkie De Jong, Barça’s Dutch maestro, is also reportedly in PSG’s sights. Currently injured, he was unfortunate enough not to be able to take part in the win over Napoli.
However, given the number of clubs already interested in the Barcelona star, PSG’s addition is hardly a surprise. Nonetheless, the main focus in terms of scouting, however, most definitely must have been Lamine Yamal and Pau Cubarsi.
Given Cubarsi’s man-of-the-match outing against Napoli, the 17-year-old does present a great opportunity for most big clubs. However, Barcelona have other plans for their pearl in the defense, and this plan sees him stay as a Blaugrana for many years to come. Yet, knowing the power of the French club, it would be wise for Barcelona to stay alert just in case.
