Injuries are often a consistent complaint within top clubs, but Barcelona has an ace up their sleeves. Unlike most other top European sides, Barcelona continues to produce their own talents with undeniable quality. These youngsters often go on to make things much easier for La Blaugrana.
A great example would be the ongoing injury crisis at FC Barcelona. Despite losing the likes of Robert Lewandowski, Pedri, Raphinha, Frenkie De Jong, Jules Kounde, and Sergi Roberto to injuries, they still have a way to cope.
According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, the three subsidiary players to feature for the first team are apparent. In his latest call-up for Barcelona Atletic, Rafa Marquez has not called upon three significant names. These three are Unai Hernandez, Hector Fort, and Marc Guiu.
While in itself the incident is not too significant, but since all three were training with the first team, the picture becomes clearer. Xavi is likely going to include all three youngsters in his final squad for the Barcelona game against Athletic Bilbao.
Unai Hernandez
Unai Hernandez, aged 18, is a talented midfielder from the Barcelona subsidiary. A capable enough player from a technical perspective, he is also quite versatile. He has previously earned call-ups under Xavi Hernandez but is yet to debut for the first team.
Marc Guiu
Next comes Marc Guiu. A 17-year-old forward who has been quite the sensation within the Barcelona youth ranks. He possesses abilities akin to traditional strikers, relying on physique and positioning to score against opponents. He has also previously received call-ups but has not debuted yet.
Hector Fort
Lastly, the new introduction in terms of a first-team call-up, is Hector Fort. A right-back by specialty, the 17-year-old will fit right into a team that currently lacks depth in that position. While Joao Cancelo remains the undisputed starter, Hector Fort will slot right in as a direct replacement for the now-injured Sergi Roberto.
With kickoff less than 12 hours away, Barcelona are preparing for their return fixture. Since the conclusion of the international break, this will be Barça’s first test back in club football. Given Real Madrid’s recent slip against Sevilla, this is Barcelona’s opportunity to fill up the opportunistic gap.
