Barcelona will hope to enter the January transfer window with the intent of acquisition. The Catalan giants were not initially short handed at the beginning of the season, but things are quite different now. For starters, Barcelona has already lost several key players to various injuries.
Gavi’s loss is one that has particularly damaged Barça’s capability for this season. The youngster was a driving force that was relentless, and without his services, Barcelona hardly feel as dangerous. To compensate for his loss, they were hoping to recruit a new midfielder.
Ultimately, their eyes seem to have rest on Girona captain Aleix Garcia. The player’s profile as a defensive midfielder would also help Barcelona strengthen their most visible vulnerability, their pivot position. However, there is reportedly some confusion over the player’s release clause.
Despite that, SPORT reveals that Barcelona has a plan up their sleeves. The Catalan giants know that stealing Garcia from Girona will be difficult, but they still believe it to be feasible. Their intention is to include certain players in the deal to help activate Girona’s interest.
Two of those players are already on loan at the Catalan club this season. Former Manchester City defender Eric Garcia, and promising youngster Pablo Torre, are both listed as a potential offering to Girona from Barcelona.
Knowing Girona’s need for a defensive addition, Barça realize Eric Garcia’s value. He is currently enjoying a great season on loan, but the thought of a permanent acquisition may just tempt Girona. Moreover, Pablo Torre’s young age could also possibly interest Girona as a valuable asset.
Another possible player that could be used by Barcelona is Mikayil Faye from the subsidiary. It seems that Girona are quite intrigued by the Senegalese defender and a possible loan offer to have him for a season may be exciting for Michel’s side.
At the moment, Girona’s head coach Michel believes that Aleix Garcia will likely continue where he is. However, Barcelona are determined to take away their captain. This would not only bolster a very crucial position within Barça, but it would also weaken a direct rival.
