Within the context of this season, FC Barcelona have all but lost hope for any silverware. The domestic cups are long forgotten, the Champions League run for Barça is over, and even their La Liga aspirations are gone. However, Barcelona still need to build on something beyond this season.

For the upcoming campaign in the second half of this year, Barcelona have a massive managerial concern. Xavi Hernandez, at least for now, is adamant that his decision to leave the club is final and that he will be parting ways with La Blaugrana at the end of the season.

However, to properly aid Xavi’s vision of a better tomorrow, in case he decides to continue, Barcelona might reportedly need to give him his desired signings.

The club legend, and now head coach, wishes for some sporting reinforcements, and according to Alex Pintanel ( h/t Reshad Rahman ), this involves three signings that he thinks Barcelona desperately needs.

Xavi understands that in order for Barcelona to compete at the highest level possible, he needs three reinforcements. The first of those is the signing of an elite-level pivot, and the two names mentioned in Pintanel’s report are those of Joshua Kimmich from Bayern Munich and Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad.

However, that is not all there is to his needs. Xavi also believes that the team needs to find a top-level fullback to ensure both defensive and offensive output. While Joao Cancelo had a lot of faith entrusted in him since his arrival from Manchester City, he has recently come under a lot of criticism for his past few outings.

Lastly, Xavi hopes for the signing of a player like Manchester City star Bernardo Silva. Currently aged 29, Silva is at the peak of his powers and is regarded by many as being among the best footballers in the world right now. His consistency, quality, and experience are all things that Xavi believes would be a vital addition to his Barcelona team.

Understandably, granting Xavi these signings would require some substantial financial commitments. However, to ensure the continuity of Barcelona as a top contender both domestically and in Europe, it is essential to improve the team in a way that allows them to do so without needing to play with some sort of handicap.

On the other hand, given their financial predicament, FC Barcelona can not guarantee anything but will look to improve the squad in any way they can.
