FC Barcelona significantly strengthened their squad during the last summer transfer window. Having played around two months of football this season, the club is now once again preparing its moves for the next inclusions in their squad.

In this regard, the Catalans have already started monitoring players whom they believe can be of interest to them. Mundo Deportivo reports that there are three players in particular who are topping the list of Barcelona scouts, and whom the Catalans are vigorously monitoring.

Florian Wirtz

Florian Wirtz, the Bayer Leverkusen playmaker, is high on the list of Barcelona. The 20-year-old forward has started the season very strongly under Xabi Alonso and has already scored three goals and assisted a further four in the ten games played this season.

Wirtz has already declared himself as a Barcelona fan in the past, but his signing would still nowhere be easy for the Catalans as he can cost the club around €100 million.

Arthur Vermeeren

Arthur Vermeeren is another midfielder high on Barcelona’s agenda. The Catalans have been monitoring the 18-year-old since the last January. Barcelona have received very good reports about the player, and are particularly impressed by his contributions to winning the League and the Cup in Belgium with Royal Antwerp.

The Belgian club values him at around €20 million, and Deco has already discussed the possibility of a move with Royal Antwerp Sporting Director, Marc Overmars, at the board lunch before the two sides faced off in the UEFA Champions League.

Alan Varela

As previously reported here, Barcelona have been impressed by Varela after they faced him in the second round of the UEFA Champions League group stage.

Sources from the club admit that they are monitoring the 22-year-old pivot, but there is nothing concrete at the moment. Other reports indicate that Barcelona like him but he is not a preference for now. It is worth mentioning that Porto paid €9 million for 80% rights of the player this summer.
