FC Barcelona know already the risks and changes they want to make in the summer transfer window. La Blaugrana are currently still fighting for the Champions League and La Liga, but they already look ahead as well. For Barcelona, planning ahead will be crucial with their financial problems in mind.
Beyond just the change required in the managerial role, one where a certain German manager is beginning to gain traction as a possible option, the Catalan giants are also looking to revamp their squad.
Their first goal is to reach that coveted and sought-after 1:1 rule again, one that would allow them to sign according to what they generate.
For this, they have decided to make a road map according to which players they are willing to part ways with. As highlighted by SPORT, Barcelona currently has three specific positions in mind where they want to recruit someone and bring them in to reinforce the team.
The first position they definitely want to ensure an arrival in is the central defensive midfield role. At the moment, there are many big names like Joshua Kimmich of Bayern Munich involved, but Barça’s preferred option, reportedly, hails from Girona.
Aleix Garcia, captain of that specific Catalan team and a pure holding midfielder, is the ideal candidate for Barcelona. His technical qualities, coupled with his physicality and experience, make him a great option. Moreover, he has already made it public information that he aspires to play for Barcelona one day.
Fortunately for La Blaugrana, even his release clause exists to make things easier. Currently set at €20 million, that would be a great price to recruit a player of his quality and standing. For now, however, there is no absolute target that Barcelona has highlighted apart from maybe the Girona captain.
The other position in which the Catalan giants want a new reinforcement is that of the left wing position. While they believe that Joao Felix can be permanently recruited, Barcelona want a more natural winger there. One name that stands out is Brighton’s Japanese star Kaouru Mitoma. Still just 26, his profile is one that really excites Barcelona.
Lastly, the Spanish champions also wish to sign a new left-back. With Marcos Alonso set to leave in the summer, Barcelona believe the currently injured Alejandro Balde could use some competition and quality in that position as well. Sergi Cardona from Las Palmas and Barça’s loanee in Levante, Alex Valle, are two options that really entice FC Barcelona.
