The establishment of a new European Super League is something Barcelona has wanted for quite some time. Having gradually lost the ability to make marquee signings and spend great amounts of their funds, La Blaugrana needed an escape. Lo and behold, the Super League became a project of necessity for Barcelona.

Beyond just the competitive nature of the project itself, the Super League also guarantees a higher financial payout. According to various reports in recent weeks both Barcelona and Real Madrid are set to receive a huge financial boost simply due to having been part of the Super League.

To be precise, a €1 billion injection is the expected amount that both clubs are set to receive. However, given the plethora of possibilities that such an amount could open up, it would be interesting to look at what avenues it actually opens up for Barcelona.

Thus, as highlighted by Football Transfers, Barcelona could look at three marquee signings in particular. All three signings, coincidentally, just so happen to be German mainstays. Within their respective clubs, each of the three players is among the elites.

Florian Wirtz:

The first name on this list of possible targets is none other than Florian Wirtz. Aged 20, the attacking midfielder is seen as one of the most prodigious talents of the new generation. At the moment, his signature is deemed as being too expensive for Barcelona. However, the European Super League could change all of that.

Already among the very best performers in the Bundesliga this season, Wirtz has been fundamental to Bayer Leverkusen. His reported €100 million valuation is something Barcelona can not match just yet, but the Super League definitely could help out.

His 8 goals and 12 assists this season are already very impressive, and the fact that he has openly stated his admiration for Barça only adds more excitement.

Leroy Sane:

Another target that Barcelona could look at is Leroy Sane. Yet another creative German player, Sane is primarily a winger by specially. Currently playing for Bavarian giants Bayern Munich, Sane is a profile that could heavily help Xavi’s Barcelona.

While Bayern hope to have him tied down to a new contract beyond his current 2025 expiry, Barcelona could be a great hurdle for them. The appeal of the Catalan giants, as well as the new injection of cash, could both be great attractions for the 27-year-old.

Joshua Kimmich:

Lastly, and perhaps most crucially, Xavi’s Barcelona could also follow an elite pivot. The name that would become accessible with this amount could be that of Joshua Kimmich. It is no secret that tensions continue to exist between Bayern and the 28-year-old defensive midfielder. However, Barcelona could take great advantage of this situation.

As it stands, Bayern no longer seem restricted when it comes to letting go of their star midfielder. Kimmich has been linked to Barcelona several times before, and the ESL funds could properly open that door. All in all, Barcelona could have a rather long shopping list if that amount truly comes in as is being reported.
