Over the course of the ongoing season, FC Barcelona have emerged as one of European football’s most dangerous teams. This particular change, especially after their frustrating campaign last season, came as a bit of a surprise. However, with the internal workings of Barcelona are taken into account, things make a lot more sense.

For starters, Hansi Flick is now in charge after having previously managed sides like Bayern Munich and the German National team. With his extensive knowledge and experience in the sport, it was already established that Barcelona would be getting a top-tier coach.

However, it is the way in which his team has transformed that comes off as the most surprising thing. Instead of completely relying on the ageing veterans of the squad, Flick has decided to shift his focus towards the true roots of Barcelona and the team has reacted well to it.

As per SPORT, however, there are certain aspects of this Hansi Flick-led Barcelona team that truly stand out. With these particular aspects, the Catalan giants have managed to stand out as one of Europe’s best-performing teams this season, and they have been able to demonstrate that due to some key positives.

Their numbers in attack:

When it comes to scoring goals, there is simply no team better than Barcelona right now across Europe’s top leagues. With 28 goals scored, Barcelona is the undisputed highest-scoring team among those leagues but there is a catch as well.

While they have scored the most goals of any leading club across the top five leagues, they have also conceded the most out of any leader with 9 goals. This high-risk, high-reward football is exactly what Hansi Flick promised, and he has delivered on it so far.

The youth and the team’s identity:

Under Hansi Flick, the youth of FC Barcelona have found a lot of opportunities. Many young players have made their official first team debuts under the German coach and it is clear to see that the former Bayern Munich coach truly values La Masia and the club’s youngsters. Thanks to this return to the roots of Barcelona, there is a sense of identity and belonging back in the club as well.

The team can still only get better:

So far this season, Flick has had to make use of a lot of young players and has had to make rotations and tactical adjustments accordingly. However, as more time passes, this team can only get better. With several injured players set to return soon and with Hansi Flick’s tactics only going to settle in better as more time passes, a lot of factors make this Barcelona team seem to be something truly special.
