Torres 3.5, Dominguez 3.0 | Osasuna 4-2 Barcelona: Player ratings

FC Barcelona suffer their first defeat of the La Liga season following a rather disappointing outing. For all that they have shown so far this season, La Blaugrana was a shell of themselves in this game in El Sadar. For Hansi Flick and Barcelona, this taste of defeat truly humbles their momentum.

However, it’s important to note that the team Hansi Flick fielded for this game was highly experimental, with many first-team regulars rested. Unfortunately, that’s now in the past, and no excuse can justify Barcelona’s 4-2 loss to Osasuna.

Here are the player ratings for a rather frustrating Barcelona team against Osasuna.

Player Ratings:

Inaki Pena: 5.0

While Inaki Pena may have conceded four goals, it would hardly be fair to blame him for the ones conceded. Not a night to remember for him either, however.

Gerard Martin: 4.0

The young fullback was constantly caught out of position and was quite frustrating up ahead in attack. Not exactly the ideal showing from him.

Pau Cubarsi: 4.5

Alongside his young partner in the heart of the defense, Pau Cubarsi can be faulted for having some poor positioning in this game. That allowed CA Osasuna to constantly exploit the central areas near the Barcelona goal and score off some of them as well.

Sergi Dominguez: 3.0

The same faults that can be pointed out with Pau Cubarsi can also be directed towards Sergi Dominguez, and perhaps even to a harsher degree. Gave away a penalty that possibly sealed Barça’s fate right there and then.

Jules Kounde: 6.0

The Frenchman constantly ran up and down the pitch, and was constantly seen doing everything he could to help the team attack and defend. Unfortunately, he seemed to really struggle with Ferran Torres playing on his side of the field instead of Lamine Yamal.

Eric Garcia: 6.5

Overpowered in the midfield despite his best efforts to make sure that the outcome would be different from that. Unfortunately, however, Osasuna were trampling all over the Barcelona midfield for much of the game through their dangerous counter attacks.

Pedri: 8.0

Quite possibly the only Barcelona player on the field who can keep his head held up high. Constantly dribbling his way through the Osasuna wall in front of him and threading through passes that helped his team create some of their most dangerous opportunities, Pedri was a joy to watch by himself.

Pau Victor: 7.5

Despite a rather lackluster performance overall, Pau Victor did manage to give Barcelona their first goal of the game through a rather flimsy goal but one that undoubtedly showcased the sheer confidence that the young forward seems to have in himself.

Pablo Torre: 6.0

Hardly an inspiring game for him, and he was kept awfully quiet by Osasuna. Definitely a game to forget for the young Pablo Torre, who was also overshadowed by the sheer quality and presence of Pedri on the field as well.

Ferran Torres: 3.5

Despite some promising glimpses, Ferran Torres had quite a disappointing and frustrating appearance. Constantly losing possession and creating even more frustration for his teammates because of his positioning and placement on the field.

Robert Lewandowski: 5.0

Should have scored at least one goal for Barcelona given the few chances that did come his way. Ultimately, however, he ended the night with no goal contributions to his name and no significant contribution overall.

Substitutes:

Lamine Yamal: 7.5

Individually, Lamine Yamal was a breath of fresh air that could have possibly changed the tides of this game had he started it. Did manage to get a brilliant goal to his name before the game ended.

Raphinha: 6.0

Looked very active in the middle of the pitch and high up near the opposition box. It was a shame that his teammates always seemed to be one or two steps too slow.

Alejandro Balde: 5.5

Did his job by covering the team’s open areas with his pace, but was exploited for his poor positioning at times.

Marc Casado: 6.5

Very strong on the ball and created some good openings for his teammates. Solid cameo.

Hector Fort: N/A

Not enough time or influence on the game to warrant a rating.
