Since his move to Barcelona from AC Milan on a free transfer last summer, Franck Kessié has been one whose contribution to the team always divided the fanbase’s opinion. Despite his acceptable performance, seasoned with some memorable moments as his injury-time winner in the Clásico, the Ivorian failed to integrate fully and is likely to leave at the end of the season.
Given the economic situation of FC Barcelona, several players have to depart Camp Nou to raise funds to allow the club to make further moves on the market this summer, all in correspondence with Financial Fair Play rules.
The Ivorian midfielder was already linked with a move away from Camp Nou in the January window, with Tottenham also interested, but at that time, the club didn’t want to let him go due to the shortness of options available while registering a replacement would have been difficult as well.
However, the idea of selling him would now be on the cards again, as he is seen as a valuable outlet from which the club could earn money after the end of the season. As Kessié is not a starter and the desired future signings would just push him lower and lower in the pecking order, he will be put on the market, being a player attracting attention from several clubs.
The Catalan giants have received, above all, the interest of Inter Milan among other Italian clubs. The footballer sees positively either Internazionale or AC Milan as options, but as Spanish news outlet SPORT reports, the Catalan club is now ruling out the possibility of a sale to Italy as they believe that Serie A sides cannot offer enough money nor convincing exchanges.
The club’s objective is to close a direct sale before June 30 to generate money, and there are interested teams in the Premier League who can pay a good amount, with Tottenham being the main suitor for the 26-year-old.
After the winter window, the London-based club is now ready to try once again for the signature of the Ivorian. The same report goes on to state that Tottenham have recently asked for a price and Barcelona would open the door for offers that exceed €25 million, which would generate a great profit from the player who arrived to Catalonia as a free agent.
From the club’s perspective, the better economic offer would have priority of course, but evidently, the player will also have his say in the decision as ultimately, he will choose his next destination according to his interests. He likes Inter, but an agreement is far as of today.
