Frank Kessie was one of the high-profile signings that arrived at FC Barcelona in the last summer transfer window. However, despite the different skills that he brings to the squad, he has not been able to get a proper role in Xavi’s team, and rumors have been circulating about his departure ever since his arrival.

Kessie arrived at FC Barcelona at the start of the season as a free agent after having shone with AC Milan, with whom he won the Scudetto last term. Despite it being clear that Kessie’s skills and attributes were not exactly those that Xavi required, the club was optimistic that bringing such a player can pay dividends, as the club had obtained from signings like Yaya Toure, Arturo Vidal, and Paulinho.

However, with more than half the season having been played out, Kessie is yet to get a proper place in the FC Barcelona squad. The midfield is quite stacked at the moment for Barcelona, and the performances of Pedri, Gavi, Frenkie, and Busquets have made it difficult for any other player to claim at stake in the starting lineup.

In these circumstances, SPORT reports that an exit route for the club and the player can open up in the form of Tottenham Hotspur. The London-based club has been performing below expectations, and their midfield is especially problematic as they only have Pierre-Emile Højbjerg as a holding midfielder. They believe Frank Kessie can be a valuable addition to their team for the next season.

However, they will be facing competition from other Premier League sides as well, particularly from Aston Villa. Inter Milan currently leads both these clubs in the pursuit of Kessie, and Kessie’s experience of the Serie A can turn out to be in the Milanese teams’ favor.

Still, his future is equally possible with FC Barcelona, as Kessie has been making impactful performances in the few chances that he has gotten since Pedri and Busquets’ injuries, and as per the same report Xavi is also now satisfied with his performances, especially by the physicality that he brings to difficult matches.
