FC Barcelona have sold several players in the last few years while keeping options that will benefit the club in the future. One such player upon whom Barcelona have a right and whose move in the coming months can benefit the Catalan club is the French defender Jean Claire Todibo.

The Frenchman is one of the most in-demand players in the current football market. His performances with Nice in the last season have allowed him to generate significant attention from some of the biggest clubs in the world, and several Premier League clubs are interested in getting him.

According to a report from SPORT, Tottenham Hotspurs is the latest club to decide to enter the fight for the defender’s signature. The London club is in urgent need of a center-back, as they are missing Van de Ven with an injury and Ange Postecoglou does not fully trust Eric Dier.

Cristian Romero is also going to miss the next three matches and is also not depended upon a lot by the Australian coach. In such a situation, Jean Claire Todibo emerges as a clear favorite for Spurs.

Previously, Manchester United had been reported to have been trying to tie down the defender, and the report mentions that Arsenal has also tried to make contact with the player to get him to England.

Whichever of these clubs ultimately succeeds in signing the defender, one club that is definitely going to benefit from a move is FC Barcelona. When Barcelona sold Todibo permanently to Nice in 2021, the Catalans kept a clause for a 20% share of any future sale of the player.

Currently, the player is being valued at €45 million, and with a 20% share, Barcelona would get €9 million if the defender is sold for this amount.

While Todibo earlier commented that he was in no hurry to change clubs, it is looking increasingly likely that the defender will soon join a big club with high aspirations. And whenever this move takes place, Barcelona would benefit from the clause that they kept in his contract in 2021.
