FC Barcelona is a club that is frequently included in the news for many kinds of updates. The Catalan giants have a vast array of players at their disposal and a variety of different personas. As such, their players being linked to moves away from the club is no anomaly.
In recent times, controversies and criticism within Barcelona have flourished. Xavi’s men seem to have taken a step back from the right direction and will need to readjust themselves. Interestingly, it is at this exact time that potential interest from a Premier League side in one of Xavi’s stars is being reported.
According to SPORT, English side Tottenham Hotspur is currently in the market for a new forward. Reportedly, they have their eyes set on Barcelona winger Raphinha. The Brazilian forward is currently not joining the best of minutes at Barça, and hence Spurs have developed an even bigger interest in his services.
From what the English media seems to report, it would appear that Raphinha has been on their agenda for quite some time. Ultimately, he ended up choosing Barcelona last summer. This came as a blow to Spurs, who are now still insistent on getting his signature.
In order to let go of him, however, Barcelona will reportedly demand a fee close to €70 million. This would allow them to make a capital gain as well as cover the rest of the amortization. However, Spurs are believed to be willing to offer something closer to the €35 million mark.
Over time, Raphinha looks to be losing prominence within this Barcelona team. The emergence of Lamine Yamal coupled with the reliability of Ferran Torres has pushed the Brazilian down the pecking order. Moreover, his own antics and irregularities have cost him dearly as well.
While his place in the Brazilian National team looks safe for now, it is also not exactly guaranteed. An influx of new talented faces could topple the winger from his perch in that side as well.
Spurs remain insistent on getting a forward into their team in January. Their eyes remain fixated on Raphinha after other targets seem to have become unattainable. However, it still remains to be seen if the winger manages to convince Xavi and regain his position within this Barcelona side by that point.
