FC Barcelona have been one of the most in-form teams in Europe this season. Under Hansi Flick, the Catalan club has turned a new page from the struggles of recent years, now emerging as a breath of fresh air.
Every single game, Flick’s team scores goals for fun. Including their most recent 5-2 victory against Red Star Belgrade, the German coach’s team is well on its way to breaking all kinds of goalscoring records, if they keep up the current pace.
As per Mundo Deportivo, Robert Lewandowski, and Raphinha, two of Barcelona’s three-star attackers are topping all scoring charts, both in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League. The duo continues to dazzle with their incredible form.
Both Lewandowski and Raphinha are top of the goalscoring charts in the Champions League along with Harry Kane and Viktor Gyokeres. All four players currently have 5 goals, although both the Brazilian and Pole will know that they could have more had they taken their chance against Belgrade.
In La Liga, the 36-year-old veteran has burst out of the blocks in the Pichichi race, putting clear distance between himself and the second-place contenders, Raphinha and Ayoze Pérez.
Lewandowski has scored 14 goals in the Spanish top flight so far this campaign, which is double the second-placed name on the list. He seems to be in excellent form in front of goal and is helped by better chance creation by his teammates.
Apart from scoring goals, Raphinha has also emerged as a chance-creating monster. He constantly chips in with assists and has 12 goals and 10 assists in just 16 games across all competitions so far this season. Surely, Messi-esque numbers?
It remains to be seen if Barcelona as a team and players like Lewandowski and Raphinha are able to maintain this form going forward. Should they do, this would turn out to be a huge season in the club’s history, and let’s wait and see how it plays out.
