FC Barcelona had a memorable match against Villarreal this week. The Catalan team got a two-goal lead early in the game, but eventually went behind as Villarreal scored three goals, before scoring another two goals to come out victorious with a 4-3 scoreline.

Thus, Barcelona have won the last two games in La Liga, and the Villarreal match was also memorable because of the performance of the 16-year academy ace of Barcelona, Lamine Yamal. Other players like Ferran Torres and Frenkie de Jong also put in good performances.

Two Barcelona players in La Liga team of the week

Sofascore has published their team of the week for the third matchday of La Liga, and two Barcelona players have made the cut to appear in this team. These two players are Ferran Torres and Frenkie de Jong.

Ferran Torres continued with his red-hot form in the match against Villarreal, as he came on in the 63rd minute and scored a goal by the 68th minute. Torres has been in a good patch of form since the pre-season, as he was the leading goalscorer for the club in the pre-season and has also scored two goals since the start of La Liga.

Frenkie de Jong also put in a good shift in the Villarreal match, and his performance has been recognized by getting a place in the team of the week. Frenkie de Jong has been selected as the second captain for Barcelona this season, and Xavi also seems to have found the best possible position for the Dutchman on the pitch, which has allowed him to shine since the start of this year.

Yamal misses out

Lamine Yamal was another player who had a memorable appearance in this match, which was made even more impressive by the fact that he is still only 16 years old. He also got a standing ovation from Villarreal fans but was unlucky to have missed out on the team of the week.

The rest of the team was made up of three Atletico Madrid players, and one player from Villarreal, Sevilla, Valencia, Las Palmas, Cadiz, and Real Sociedad each. Former Barcelona midfielder, Ivan Rakitic, who currently plays for Sevilla, was also on the team of the week.
