After getting another victory in La Liga over Girona last weekend, Barcelona are all set to kick off their UEFA Champions League campaign with a match against Monaco in the Louis II stadium.
Preparations for this match are underway, and some important players who have been on the sidelines for quite some time now, including Gavi and Frenkie de Jong, have also participated in some of the training sessions ahead of this game.
However, as SPORT has reported, the most notable faces in the Barcelona training session yesterday morning were the cousins Guille and Toni Fernandez. Guille has already made a La Liga squad for Barcelona, for the match against Girona. Toni had also trained under Flick before that match but was unable to make the final list.
Toni Fernandez is already a part of the B list of players that Barcelona have registered for this year’s Champions League, while Guille can also be included in this list 24 hours before the match starts.
But for the upcoming match, Flick will have some important players unavailable for the attacking midfield position. Dani Olmo suffered an injury in the last match and is ruled out for the next 4-5 weeks. Similarly, Fermin Lopez is also out injured again.
Ansu Fati is also expected to get the green light from the club’s medical department, and travel with the team for this match. As already reported, he can also play in the attacking midfield position, and thus there are no guarantees that the two cousins will make their debuts in this upcoming match.
More details on the squad will be made available after the final training session takes place today. Hopefully, Flick will have no more injury setbacks in this remaining training session, and lead his team to another victory on Thursday.
