Incorporating youth talents is a great pride for a club like FC Barcelona. Based on the ideologies of entrusting their youngsters, Barça remain true to their ideals even now. While several youngsters have been given chances this season, two within the subsidiary are of particular interest to fans of La Blaugrana.
The two names in question are those of Mikayil Faye from Senegal and Noah Darvich from Germany. Both are incredible talents hailing from regions of immense footballing presence. However, their incorporation with the Barcelona youth setup could not be further apart from one another.
As highlighted by Spanish outlet SPORT, both players are excelling at different rates. Their progressions are unique, whereas one is exceeding expectations, the other is still getting his feet on the ground. This difference in integration is proving to be of vital essence to their development at the club.
19-year-old Mikayil Faye has already begun to make heads turn. The Senegalese center-back has made a huge name for himself within Barcelona Atletic. Paired up with Pau Cubarsi as well as Sergi Dominguez, the Senegalese has become such an impenetrable force that he has been given the nickname of ‘Monster’.
Strong in his tackles and undeniable in his ball recoveries, he is a pure defender through and through. Left-footed and possessing great physical presence, the player is almost but a complete defender.
One area where he definitely needs work, however, is his aggression. Already having cost him an expulsion, the player will want to ease up on that particular aspect of his game if he wishes to properly succeed at FC Barcelona.
Noah Darvich, on the other hand, has been slightly underwhelming at times. Despite showing glimpses of his elite talent, the 17-year-old is still adapting to Barcelona. Expected to be a huge asset to the Barça Atletic setup by now, he has mostly appeared as a substitute for Rafa Marquez.
A left-footed playmaker with undeniable quality, Barcelona invested upwards of €4 million on him for good reason. He possesses great qualities that can unnerve and dazzle the oppositions, but must still hone them to perfection.
Having arrived from Freiburg just this summer, his incorporation will understandably take time. Whereas Faye has been extraordinary in his adaptation, Darvich will presumably take his time to do so.
There is no doubt within Barcelona that the German talent, sought after by many of the European elite, will deliver. Possessing both physical prowess and technical brilliance, the 17-year-old will be crucial for Barcelona once his adaptation period concludes.
