As things stand, there are five FC Barcelona players who are still alive and competing for the UEFA EURO 2024 title as the competition reaches its semi-final stage. Four of these players, Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres, Pedri, and Fermin Lopez, are in the ranks of Spain, while Jules Kounde is performing his duties with France.

Among these players, Lamine Yamal has been the most impressive in the current edition of the top European international competition. He is leading the assists chart with his 3 passes leading to goals and has also impressed with his dribbling, courage, and intelligence while being only 16 years of age.

Similarly, Jules Kounde has also been playing at a very high level with France and was a key player for Didier Deschamps as his side got the better of Portugal in the penalty shoot-out at the quarter-final stage.

But as Mundo Deportivo has noted, it is not only their current players, but some of Barcelona’s targets are also playing at a very high level in this competition.

This is particularly the case for Nico Williams, who is now one of the top-most priorities for Barcelona after his performances in the UEFA EURO 2024.

The Catalans already had him in their sights as they look to strengthen their left wing this summer, but his international performances have made him one of the favorites to play on the left wing in Hansi Flick’s team.

Similarly, Mikel Merino, who has been linked with Barcelona for the midfield pivot role, was also integral for Spain as he scored the winning goal in extra time that allowed Spain to avoid penalties and get into the semi-final at Germany’s expense.

Although the Catalans have other players like Joshua Kimmich and Amadou Onana ahead of him on the list of their priorities, Mikel Merino has emerged as a more realistic option for them in the last few weeks.

Thus, with their performances in the UEFA EURO 2024, Nico Williams and Mikel Merino have gotten their stock higher and can force Barcelona to make a move for them as soon as possible.
