FC Barcelona have some of the most promising talents in the world playing for them. Players coming through La Masia, like Alejandro Balde, Gavi, and Yamal, have all gotten important roles in Xavi’s squad this season.
The quality of these players is in no doubt, as all three of them have also been selected in the list of candidates for the Golden Boy award this year. However, with the performances they are given and the glory these players are accumulating, other clubs are also becoming interested in them.
Balde and Yamal close to signing their renewals
The contracts of these players are yet to be addressed by Barcelona. Gavi is still only registered with La Liga on a provisional basis, while the club also has to renew the contracts of Balde and Yamal.
However, as reported by SPORT, Barcelona are really close to completing the renewals of these two latter players. There is already an agreement between Barcelona and these two players, and the only thing missing now is the official signing and announcement.
The report mentions that the club and its fans will get a positive update in this regard whenever Barcelona and the agent of these players, Jorge Mendes, meet in the upcoming days. The new contracts of these players can be made official after this meeting.
The details of these new contracts have already been shared here previously. Lamine Yamal will extend his contract till 2026, as he is still only 16 years old, and FIFA allows only three-year contracts for players in his age category. On the other hand, Balde will extend his contract till 2028.
A rapid rise for the duo
Both these players have risen quickly at Barcelona. Alejandro Balde took the left-back position for himself with his strength and quality, and veterans like Jordi Alba and Marcos Alonso were unable to compete with him for a starting spot.
Lamine Yamal has also seen a similar rise this season, as he became the youngest player to ever debut for Spain, and also becoming the youngest goal scorer in the Spanish national team’s history.
He is already one of the top choices for forward positions for Xavi, and with further growth and development, is expected to become an invaluable asset for the Catalans.
