FC Barcelona celebrated their 125th anniversary last night with an intricate gala organized by the Catalan club. This was a memorable event for the Blaugranes as several of their legends made their appearance in this event.

Although the club’s biggest legend, Lionel Messi, was unable to attend this gala, he sent his love to the club through a social media message, while Laporta also recognized the Argentine’s greatness while talking at this gala.

But other than Messi, there were several notable individuals present at this ceremony, and as Mundo Deportivo has noted, two such individuals were Ronald Koeman and Xavi Hernandez, two former players and the two predecessors of Hansi Flick as the coach of Barcelona’s first team.

Although neither of these two legends parted ways with the club in an amicable fashion following the ends of their managerial stints, the report notes that some Barcelona fans who were present outside of the venue, the Gran Teatre del Liceu, still chanted their names to show them their affection.

Although one can argue that their managerial stints were not some of the best in the Blaugrana club’s history, these two individuals still remain absolute legends of the club with their careers as players.

Ronald Koeman was the hero of the team as they won their first European Cup in 1992, as it was his goal in extra time at Wembley that proved to be decisive against Sampdoria and won Barcelona the title. He was also a key part of the glorious ‘Dream Team’ that brought so much happiness to the Cules.

Similarly, Xavi Hernandez was also a part of one of the most successful teams in the Catalan club’s history, and he lifted the club’s 5th Champions League trophy as a captain in 2015. Both Koeman and Xavi were accompanied by their wives at this event, and they also thanked the Barcelona fans for their support.
