Injuries have been a concern that have plagued FC Barcelona for a majority of the otherwise promising 2022/2023 season. Despite the struggles with sidelined players, the Catalans have managed to emerge victorious in terms of La Liga Santander, winning it for the 27th time in their history in the process.
However, it seems the case of injuries and sidelined players still has not left FC Barcelona alone. In an official statement by the club, it has been revealed that two players, who have also been erased from the squad list concerning the upcoming home game against Real Sociedad, are now sidelined until further developments.
As per the official Barcelona account, Araujo and Pedri have suffered injuries to their right legs. As of right now, their return dates have not been mentioned by the club. Moreover, both players mark an integral cog in midfield and defense respectively that will, at the very least, be indefinitely missing the home game against Real Sociedad.
In the case of Ronald Araujo, 24-year-old central defender from Uruguay, the player has suffered an injury to his right calf. In terms of his return, the club states that “He is unavailable for selection and his recovery will dictate his return”.
On the other hand, 20-year-old midfielder Pedri Gonzalez has suffered an injury in his right thigh, and similar to Araujo, the club states that “He is unavailable for selection and his recovery will dictate his return”.
While injuries are never a good sign or occurrence for any club, if one was to look at any positives in the given situation it would be that the injuries have come at an insignificant point of the season to both players, as La Liga has been secured and the Blaugrana are currently not competing for any other silverware at the moment.
