After not having made any signings in the last winter transfer window and bringing only two new players last summer, Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, FC Barcelona are expected to bring several new pieces when the next summer transfer window opens.

The Catalans are expected to look for a new left winger and a new center forward with the highest priority in this coming transfer window.

However, according to Fichajes, after last night’s match against Rayo Vallecano, Hansi Flick expressed his concerns about two particular positions to Joan Laporta, i.e., the fullbacks.

As per the report, the Barcelona coach asked the President to bring in more capable substitutes for Jules Koundé and Alejandro Balde to ensure the team has reliable options when they need to substitute or rest these starters.

There is no doubt about the quality of Jules Koundé and Alejandro Balde, who have been fixed starters for Flick this season. However, there have not been a lot of good options for these positions on the bench, and this was quite clear in last night’s game.

The German tactician decided to sit Kounde out for this game, as the Frenchman was once again late for a team talk. As per the report, Héctor Fort started in his stead but was unable to take advantage of this opportunity and impress the Blaugrana coach.

The case has been similar with Gerard Martín, who seems to be enjoying Flick’s confidence, but who has not really impressed when given the chance to play for the first team.

Thus, as Barcelona continue to aim to win all the possible titles this season, these two starters will have to be substituted and rested at regular intervals. But the lack of reliable substitutes will make this task even more difficult for Flick, and hopefully, the Catalan club will be able to address this situation in the next transfer window.
