FC Barcelona are constantly at work to ensure a competitive environment within the team is secured for the upcoming season. Relying on their own youth products is seemingly their best bet in doing so when considering the rather negative financial implications of pursuing expensive talents in the market.
The likes of Angel Alarcon, Lamine Yamal, and Estanis Pedrola continue to provide hope to the Blaugrana. Yet where there is joy to be found, so is regret. Two La Masia youngsters have decided to part ways with the Catalan giants according to the reports from SPORT.
Winger Ilias Akhomach and striker Victor Barbera are two very crucial components of Barca Atletic who are potentially playing their final season in the Blaugrana colors. They were just recently paired up alongside another Barcelona product, Angel Alarcon, as a front three for the Spanish U-19 national team that would go on to defeat Luxembourg. Both Barbera and Alarcon would also end up scoring.
Both players are playing out the last few remaining months of contracts that are set to expire in June of 2023. They have held negotiations with the Catalan club but to no avail whatsoever. The 18-year-old winger and the 18-year-old striker have a plethora of clubs waiting to pounce should they end up not renewing with FC Barcelona.
Barbera is reportedly going to be headed to Belgium, where he would sign for Club Brugge. This transfer results in him being granted an improved financial package to that offered by Barcelona, as well as a defined shot at first-team football and European competition participation.
Akhomach on the other hand has advanced contacts with Leeds United and Arsenal from the English Premier League. He also has suitors such as Sevilla and AC Milan attentive to his situation. The case of Angel Alarcon has been a bright spot, however, as Barcelona have successfully managed to retain his services and gotten him to sign an extension until 2025 with the club.
The player has seen himself become a regular under Xavi Hernandez’s training sessions as well as call-ups to travel with the first team from time to time. The player has already made 4 La Liga appearances under the Spanish manager as well, an impressive tally given his young age of 18.
