Every youngster in the Barcelona subsidiary aspires to light up the first team at some point. Unfortunately, not all dreams can become a reality and especially not all of them can become Catalan greats. For this reason, many of the most promising candidates eventually end up leaving Barcelona as well.
The worthy few who are deemed to be good enough find themselves on the path to becoming potential greats, while others merely become specks who once led the lower categories of FC Barcelona. A future quite similar now seems to await another one of the most promising-looking players at Barcelona this season.
The name in question is that of talented 18-year-old winger Dani Rodriguez. One of the most in-form and consistent performers within the Barcelona quarry this season, the winger has shown himself to be more than capable of handling challenges beyond those of his peers.
Yet, according to Mundo Deportivo, the winger seems to have dying aspirations of continuing at Barcelona. Whether due to a lack of opportunities with the first team or some other reason altogether, the winger has seemingly decided that he wants to leave Barcelona at the end of the season.
Having arrived from Real Sociedad in 2020, a potential return to his former club is on the table. The report suggests that not just Sociedad, but also Copa Del Ray winners Athletic Club are quite enticed by the prospect of signing him if the right opportunity arrives.
Rodriguez’s contract expires in June of this year, and the fact that he will be a free agent is one that excites all the sides interested in him. Despite his involvement under the guidance of both Rafa Marquez for Barcelona Atletic and for Xavi in the first team trainings, Rodríguez is reportedly already much more keen to find new opportunities.
However, neither the player nor his agent, Pini Zahavi, seem to be in a rush. The young Spaniard has the quality to attract major names in Europe, and to ensure that they end up taking the best possible offer, Rodriguez and his entourage are willing to wait until the end of the season before potentially making a move away from Barcelona.
