Despite the rather unwanted result for FC Barcelona against RCD Mallorca that ended as a draw rather than a win, it is not all just negative news for fans of La Blaugrana.
While it is true that the Catalans would have ideally wanted all three points from the game, it is simultaneously true that positives must be looked at to reinforce future foundations.
A key takeaway from the game was the reliability of Barcelona’s new generation of youngsters. The integration of substitutes such as 16-year-old Lamine Yamal and 20-year-old Fermin Lopez proved to be a game-changer for Barcelona, while Gavi’s continued brilliance was one of the primary highlights from Xavi’s men.
An interesting statistic that comes out from the 2-2 draw however, as highlighted by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, showcases that only two players from La Masia have scored thus far for the FC Barcelona first team this season. The two players in question are none other than two heroes from the game against Mallorca: Gavi and Fermin Lopez.
In the latest clash, Lopez ended up being the goalscorer for Barcelona’s equalizer that let them take away at least one point while Gavi himself has already scored twice for Barcelona, once in La Liga and another time in the UEFA Champions League.
His goal in the league came against Villarreal on Matchday three in the 12th minute of the match to open Barcelona’s tally for the game in a 4-3 victory for the Catalan giants. His other goal came in the Champions League against Royal Antwerp in the opening group game for Barca, in which he entered the scoresheet in the 54th minute of the game.
Apart from Gavi and Lopez, Barcelona have had eight different goal scorers this season in the form of Robert Lewandowski (6 goals), Joao Felix (3 goals), Ferran Torres (3 goals), Joao Cancelo (2 goals), Frenkie De Jong (1 goal), Raphinha (1 goal), Jules Kounde (1 goal), and Pedri (1 goal).
