Over the last two seasons, Barcelona have been rather reliant on individual heroics. While La Blaugrana seem undeniably unplayable at times, they have often needed their players to step up on their own. Despite it not being an ideal situation, it still showcases the quality that Barcelona possess.

One such heroic performance came in the recent match against Real Sociedad in La Liga. Originally, Sociedad played a game of football that thoroughly showcased them as the favorites to take all three points.

Araujo’s magic

Ultimately, a moment of magic from Ronald Araujo and Ilkay Gundogan managed to win all three points for Barcelona. However, this was not the first time that Ronald Araujo has come to Barça’s rescue.

Interestingly, as highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, whenever he has scored for Barcelona the Catalans have been invincible.

Goal-scoring juggernaut

Across the years he has spent in Barcelona, the 24-year-old has scored on 8 different occasions for the first team. 7 of those goals have come in La Liga, while one of them has come against Intercity in the Copa Del Ray.

None of those games where he scored ended up in a loss for Barcelona. 5 wins and 3 draws were the final results of each of those games.

Six of those goals have been brilliantly taken headers, something of a specialty for him. His first came against Getafe in the 2020/21 season. Then against Granada, Sevilla and Real Madrid in the 2021/22 season. That very season, he also scored one against Intercity in the cup.

Versatile finisher

His latest addition to that tally of headers came just recently against Sociedad. However, that is not the only type of goal he can score. His first-ever goal for Barcelona came from his right foot against Valencia in the 2020/21 season.

He followed that up with another right-footed shot that he converted against Atletico Madrid in the following campaign. Additionally, Araujo often turns up big for Barcelona in offensive positions.

Stated to have been a striker at the youth level, it’s clear to see that remnants of his former self still remain alive in him. Beyond just being a great defender and goal-scoring threat, however, Ronald Araujo remains a true FC Barcelona captain courtesy of his leadership.
