Several players departed FC Barcelona in the last summer transfer window to play for other clubs, but the one on whom the Catalans will be keeping a very keen eye for the coming months will be the Brazilian striker Vitor Roque.
After being linked with a move away from the Blaugrana side for the entirety of the last transfer window, Roque joined Real Betis on a season-long loan.
As SPORT has noted, he made his debut in his new team’s colors last night as Real Betis visited the Santiago Bernabeu to play against Real Madrid. Manuel Pellegrini, the Real Betis head coach, brought the Brazilian on the pitch in the second half in place of Ruibal, after his team had withstood the onslaught from Ancelotti’s men without conceding a goal.
After getting on the pitch, Roque showed great determination and connected easily with his teammates. He had two notable actions in the match. First, he got a header on goal, but could not trouble Thibaut Courtois too much with it. Second, he took a shot that was quite wayward and did not land on goal.
Vitor Roque remained quite active throughout his time on the pitch but was not lucky enough to get on the scoresheet on his debut. This was also the case with the rest of his teammates, as Real Madrid ultimately got a two-goal lead over Real Betis through a Kylian Mbappe brace, and won the match 2-0.
Barcelona fans will be hoping Roque can have even better cameos in the days to come. However, he might need some time to gel with his new teammates, especially as he could not get a lot of time on the pitch after having joined Barcelona from Athletico Paranaense in the last winter transfer window.
