Vitor Roque talks about being prepared for a move to Europe, playing for Barcelona, the pressure of being tracked by Barcelona scouts, the possibility of playing with Lewandowski and learning from him, and continuing his growth trajectory if he joins Barca in his recent interview with SPORT.
Vitor Roque on being prepared for a move to Europe and possibly playing for Barcelona:
“Yes, of course. I work towards this. The competitions I played in last year, the Libertadores and Brasileirao, will help me be well-prepared when I go to Europe.”
“I am very happy to have turned 18, which now allows me to play outside of my country. My goal is to continue working with humility because, with faith in God, everything will turn out well.”
Vitor Roque on Barcelona’s interest in him and ongoing negotiation with Athletico Paranaense:
“I try to stay focused on day-to-day life and give my best at Athletico. I’m sure that doing well here will be a consequence of going to Europe.”
Vitor Roque on the pressure of being tracked by Barcelona scouts:
“It’s a great motivation. It’s very important, and I see it as a reason to aspire to more and to want to work more, which is what I do.”
Vitor Roque on being special and garnering interest from Barcelona at such a young age:
“I think so, but I have to be humble for everything to turn out well. That’s why I always talk about working and thanking God, which is what makes me different. Without work and without God, none of this would be happening.”
Vitor Roque on playing for Barcelona:
“Yes, it’s a dream not only for me but also for any emerging player. If it happens that I end up going to Barça, it will be a great joy for me and my family. That’s why I have to continue working hard and wait for everything to come together with time.”
Vitor Roque on Robert Lewandowski:
“When I see him on TV, I always notice his great finishing power, which I think is his strong point. He’s spectacular, and I followed him at Bayern Munich and now at Barcelona.”
Vitor Roque on the possibility of learning from Lewandowski:
“Yes, of course. If I had a player of this level next to me, I would try to learn as much as I could. If this ends up happening, it will surely be very important for my career. It would be something wonderful.”
Vitor Roque on continuing the same growth trajectory if he joins Barcelona:
“It’s something I’ll only be able to see when I get there. If necessary, of course, I may have to have a period of adaptation, but in my head, I always have the idea of playing to help my team.”
Vitor Roque on how he interprets that Gavi and Pedri, two young players like him, are two of the stars of Barcelona:
“It represents an added motivation to know that the club values, above all, the quality of the footballers.”
Vitor Roque on why his generation is already making a difference:
“In my case, I can tell you that it is a direct consequence of the effort and dedication in training and matches. I am a football player who always strives to improve.”
