The season keeps on getting better and better for FC Barcelona. With their last night’s victory over Real Madrid, the Blaugranes have erased any lingering doubts about their credentials as the most serious contenders for the La Liga title.

Several players from the Blaugrana team had a fantastic outing last night. Robert Lewandowski scored another brace, while Yamal and Raphinha both had one goal to their names.

The second of the goals scored by Lewandowski came from an inch-perfect cross from full-back Alejandro Balde.

As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the Spanish defender was one of the Barcelona players to talk to the media after the game, and highlighted the team’s achievement in getting such a big win in a hostile stadium:

“Coming to such a challenging stadium and getting a result like this is incredible. We all performed very well. We’re on a really good path. The team came in with confidence from the Champions League match, and that was evident on the field. Everything went our way.”

The 21-year-old full-back also highlighted his team’s good performances in the last week: “When you’re on a good streak, the team’s mentality shifts… [We] worked hard throughout the week.”

In addition to his assist for the second goal, another moment in which Balde stood out was with Yamal’s goal, which he celebrated by having a small dance with the 17-year-old winger. In this media talk, Balde revealed: “We were clear that if we scored, we were going to dance.”

Balde was clear that keeping faithful to the style that the team has shown up to now in the season was key to getting this victory:

“A lot of people doubted if we would change our style against Madrid, but no. If something is working, there’s no need to change it, and today it was proven. Barça must always be a contender for all titles.”

The significance of that final statement cannot be overstated, as Barcelona is once again looking to be one of the most terrifying teams in Europe. Hopefully, the Catalans will be able to capitalize on this run and get some trophies at the end of the season.
