Lamine Yamal once again put on a show in the match between Barcelona and Girona last night as he added another two goals to his tally in La Liga. The youngster opened the scores in the 30th minute, before doubling Barcelona’s lead seven minutes later.
In addition to these two goals, the youngster was also integral for Barcelona throughout the match. He got the MVP award for this game, and as Mundo Deportivo has reported, also spoke to the media after the win.
The Spaniard was naturally very happy with this result and believed results like these would help his team win La Liga this season: “We are very happy with the victory. We want to win as many matches as possible because that’s how you win the league, and today we were able to do that.”
The winger also recognised that returning from an international break is never easy, and thus, this result was even more special: “The first game after returning from international duty is always tough, but we started very well and very direct.”
Yamal was also very happy with his goal-scoring performance: “Because scoring goals is always good to help the team.” On another controversial moment from the match, the youngster opined: “A handball is not called on a rebound from a teammate.”
The recent UEFA EURO 2024 winner was already looking forward to kicking off the UEFA Champions League campaign this Thursday: “It will be very special, and we are really looking forward to playing it.”
Lastly, Yamal also expressed his eagerness to see Ansu Fati, who can be a competitor for him in the forward spots, return to the field: “He will be very important for us, he’s a special player that all the Barça fans are eager to see, and hopefully he can play.”
This was another great game from Yamal, who is just refusing to slow down since the start of his senior-level career at Barcelona and Spain. Hopefully, he can help his side win some piece of silverware this season, and not get too burned out by playing so many matches at the highest level.
