FC Barcelona have had a long and rather frustrating summer transfer window due to various reasons. While the issues of sales has still not been solved, it is hardly the only pressing matter they have had to rush. For much of the summer window, Barcelona have been forced to continue waiting to make a signing.
Fortunately, the Catalan club has made at least some progress in that department. With the agreement done over the arrival of RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo, Barcelona now can at least rest assured that they have managed to acquire one of the elite targets that they had this summer.
However, it would appear that the Catalan club is still not satisfied. Previously, it was stated that the goal of the club was to secure the signings of both Dani Olmo and Nico Williams together. While Olmo has been acquired, the Athletic Club winger still remains out of reach.
Yet, according to Catalan journalist Gerard Romero, there is still more left to this saga than what most people would consider to be the final conclusion. As per his own words:
“We have not seen the end in the Nico chapter.”
What Romero is trying to imply from this message, however, is essentially anyone’s guess. He might be trying to hint at the possibility of Barcelona possibly pursuing Nico Williams this summer as well, but given the fact that he has returned to Athletic Club already makes this possibility a bit hard to believe.
On the other hand, he could also be suggesting that Barça could pursue the 22-year-old winger again next summer. For this to happen, however, there have been many reports suggesting that the player’s release clause will need to remain the same. In case the value is increased as part of a possible renewal, all hopes for Barcelona may come crashing down.
At the moment, the only signing secured so far is that of Dani Olmo. Following the announcement made by Fabrizio Romano, it is taken for granted that the Spanish star will wear the Blaugrana colors next season. As for Nico Williams, however, only time will tell what lies for him in the future.
