In the last few years, FC Barcelona have put the winter transfer window to good use by making some strategic additions to their team in the middle of the season. This was particularly the case in 2022, when the Catalans added Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Dani Alves, Adama Traore, and Ferran Torres all in the January transfer window.
However, for the upcoming winter transfer window, there are not a lot of changes expected to take place in the Blaugrana team. This is particularly the case as Barcelona will make their desired additions only next summer, keeping in view their economic and financial realities.
Still, this does not mean that the Blaugranes will not make any moves in January, and SPORT has provided an outline of the main operations that they are expected to undertake next month.
While there will be no new additions, Barcelona will still have to work to be able to retain two of their current players, Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, as they are currently registered with La Liga only till January.
Their registration next month is not yet assured, but the Catalan club asks for calm as they believe they can achieve this objective without selling any players.
Furthermore, Barcelona are also intending to complete the renewals of Pedri and Gavi till 2029 within the time frame of this transfer window. Returning to the 1:1 status will particularly help the club in this regard as then they will be able to activate their new contracts immediately.
Some changes in the squad can also take place, as departures are not completely ruled out, even though Deco does not want this to happen in January.
The only player who has a chance of leaving is Ansu Fati, who is currently recovering from his injury, and that too if he himself makes the decision for a change of scenery to get minutes in a team that can offer him a more prominent role on loan.
After that, Barcelona can make new signings in the summer, with their highest priority being the signing of a new winger to complement the current duo of Raphinha and Yamal.
