In recent weeks, there have been a lot of reports indicating that FC Barcelona are looking for a new player in the upcoming summer transfer window to strengthen their left-wing position.

There have been several players linked with the Catalan club for this position, including the Liverpool forward Luis Diaz, who is reportedly the favorite candidate of Deco, and the Athletic Club winger Nico Williams, who is the top preference of the new Barcelona coach, Hansi Flick.

The latter of these players has been linked with the Catalan club for some time now, and as SPORT has reported, he also commented on his future in some of his recent interviews.

For instance, when asked about his future in an interview with MARCA, the winger ensured that he is focused currently only on Athletic Club and the UEFA EURO 2024:

“I’m happy, focused on Athletic, on the Euros, and on everything that is football. Whatever happens, will happen.”

Similarly, in another interview with La Vanguardia, the younger of the Williams brothers hinted that he was happy being linked with the big European clubs:

“Everything that comes from outside is good, it means I’m doing my job well. Every kid dreams that big clubs will notice them. I’m focused on doing things right in the Euros, and whatever may come after, I’ll find out because these days I’m totally disconnected.”

Thus, Nico has not given any clear indications about his future in any of his recent interviews. It is understandable why he is remaining cautious as Barcelona will have to sell some of their current players and return to the 1:1 rule before being able to make an offer for him.

Furthermore, he is not the only candidate on Barcelona’s agenda to strengthen the left wing, with the likes of Luis Diaz and Dani Olmo also closely linked with the Catalan club.
