FC Barcelona gave the Montjuic stadium a night to remember in the UEFA Champions League with a 5-0 win over Young Boys. A brace from Robert Lewandowski, goals from Raphinha and Inigo Martinez, and an own goal helped Flick’s team get off the mark in the competition for this season.

Raphinha was the star on the night for Barcelona. It was not just his goal that marked his performance but his leadership and pressing was on-point throughout the night, much like it has been since the season started under Hansi Flick.

The Montjuic crowd chanted the 27-year-old Brazilian’s name, in a moment that made him emotional. One other player who covered himself in glory on the night was Robert Lewandowski, who netted two goals during the game.

The €15m-rated player however was visibly upset with being taken off by Hansi Flick when he was on a hattrick. Despite scoring nine goals from the opening 10 games of the season, Lewandowski seems to want more.

As per SPORT, Lewandowski was not happy with the change because he always wanted more than he got. It has been his nature throughout his career and he is not happy with resting on his laurels, in a good way.

A hattrick was there for the taking last night against Young Boys and Lewandowski knows it. The Polish veteran’s minutes however need to be managed and ultimately, Hansi Flick made the call that he deemed right on the night.

Lewandowski must remember that he is no longer a youngster or in the prime of his career. He is 36 years old and the body must be given rest whenever it is needed. The Pole looks on top of his game this season and it bodes well for FC Barcelona.

Let’s wait and see how the 36-year-old responds this weekend against Alavés. He will be raring to keep the scoring form going and let’s wait and see how it pans out.
