The squad of FC Barcelona for the 2023-24 season changed significantly as noteworthy players left after the end of the last season, and other important players joined up during the summer transfer window. However, this was not the only change that took place at the club in the summer.

Important administrative changes also took place at the club as the former Director of Football, Mateu Alemany, left the club. The new Sporting Director, Deco, has taken over most of Alemany’s roles now and is the most powerful sporting figure in the recently announced Sporting Structure at the club.

Bojan’s new role

One familiar face has returned to the club as a part of this structure. This is the former forward Bojan Krkic, whose new role at the club was described by Xavi in his last press conference.

As SPORT has reported, Xavi was asked a question about Vitor Roque, who had to leave the pitch on a stretcher yesterday. Responding to this question, Xavi indirectly described Bojan’s new role:

“We are in constant contact with the doctors in Brazil. We’ll see. Bojan will be the one in charge, from now on, of monitoring loaned, signed, or buy-back option players. We are keeping tabs on all of them.”

Helping youth players

This is an important part of Bojan’s new role at Barcelona. However, this is not the only activity he will be undertaking for the club. His tasks also include remaining in contact with the players from La Masia who are gradually making their way to the first team.

Bojan will use his experience at Barcelona to help new talents make the difficult adaptation from the youth ranks to the first team.

Although his own career did not pan out exactly according to expectations, the Catalan club still believes he is the best-suited person to guide the new wave of youngsters to adapt and grow at Barcelona.
