Barcelona youngster Ansu Fati

Xavi favors selling Barcelona prodigy with a buy-back option – report

FC Barcelona continue to fight a massive battle against their various economic issues and their consequent restrictions, something that has thus far restrained them from making the top-level signings they wish to bring.

Before they can ultimately take that step to lure in new arrivals, the very first thing on the management team’s agenda would be to clear up salary space and bring in additional funds through the sale of players.

As per Mundo Deportivo, the sale of two forwards is already agreed upon within FC Barcelona. The club believes that Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres are to be the ones that depart through the doors of the club to be sold this summer.

However, out of both the Spaniards, the report suggests it is actually Ansu Fati that Xavi continues to have lingering hope for. Despite the youngster having reached double figures in terms of goals this season, his physical decline as compared to his previous best version has been there to witness for most of the season.

Moreover, the young La Masia graduate ended the season on a rather strong note and continues to showcase his will to fight for his place at the club. The primary reason that selling him seems so inviting to the club is that he is an academy graduate, so any and all transfer funds his departure brings would be pure profit.

The report does suggest however that Xavi Hernandez would prefer to let the young star go with the option or ability for Barcelona to bring him back at some point.

The manager knows he can’t guarantee Fati minutes given the other alternatives ahead of him in the pecking order. This is why he wishes for the youngster, who he indeed does like, to go to a side that can guarantee him minutes and help him reassert himself properly.
