Some major developments at FC Barcelona are expected to take place in the final days of the summer transfer window as the Catalan giants will look to reinforce their side as best as possible knowing there are certain positions within the team that could definitely use further reinforcements or quality within them.
The most advanced option that was addressed was the right-back position, the need to have a top quality reinforcement brought in for that particular position was a major concern for Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez.
However, now that 29-year-old Portuguese star Joao Cancelo has practically been secured by FC Barcelona to be their right-back for the upcoming season, the Catalan giants will continue to look for even more stars that can be brought in keeping in mind the club’s financial limitations.
According to Gerard Romero, Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez has given the green light for the operation concerning Joao Felix, one that some within the Barcelona offices considered to be a great market opportunity while others considered to be a stylistic incompatibility.
However, it seems now that the Barcelona coach is on board with the idea of the 23-year-old Atletico Madrid forward and Portuguese international being brought in.
Further details state that the Catalan club is looking to bring in the forward on a year-long loan deal with no option or obligation to buy attached to it. This, in turn, would mean the player returns to Atletico Madrid at the end of the season.
Moreover, Barcelona are also willing to take over the entirety of the player’s salary leaving Atletico Madrid having to cover none of it which could prove to be a key factor in convincing the Madrid-based outfit into letting go of their record signing for at least a year, one in which he was not expected to have much prominence for Atletico either way.
