There are several aspects that Barcelona will remain wary of as they enter 2024. Even as they approach their first game against UD Las Palmas, Barça proceed with caution and care. Their opponents may not be the cream of the crop, but Garcia Pimienta seems determined to take down Barcelona.

A well-drilled side, their defensive record speaks for itself. However, Barcelona are also not without their tricks and techniques. Heading into the clash, they hope to be able to count on their latest recruit, Brazilian striker Vitor Roque.

However, there is one small problem, he currently remains unregistered with La Liga. Until he is registered, he can not compete for Barça officially in the competition. Yet, despite the clock ticking down, Xavi does not seem to be worried.

As highlighted by SPORT, the Barcelona coach specified in his latest press conference that he was not worried:

“Vitor Roque? It’s a matter of hours for him to be registered. He will be with us.”

He also further established that he believes the young 18-year-old will be helpful to the team:

“Vitor Roque is there to help the team, to compete with the other attackers. He will help us.”

Xavi was asked about whether or not the new signing would compete with Robert Lewandowski for a place in the team. To this, the coach replied that it will not only be the Pole he has to compete against:

“Vitor Roque is there to help the team, to compete with the other attackers. He will help us.”

However, the coach did not rule out the possibility of even playing Roque and Lewandowski together. He stated:

“Lewandowski and Roque can play together. Vitor can play on the side and at 9, I’m not ruling out anything.”

Barcelona will now hope to ensure that Roque is indeed available for selection against Las Palmas. His inclusion could open up the possibility of giving him some minutes and beginning his adaptation period.
